The right questions to ask yourself
Choosing the perfect stove for your home isn’t difficult: just ask yourself the right questions!
How many rooms do I need to heat?
In the case of a single room, or multiple rooms on the same level with wide and open accesses, a stove with natural ventilation might be ideal for you, especially if the goal is to supplement the existing home heating system with a pellet stove to lower the gas bill.
If you need to heat multiple rooms on different floors, you can opt for ducting, which involves installing a stove with a fan that pushes and circulates hot air through ventilation ducts to reach even the farthest points from the stove’s installation. This way, you can optimize the heat produced, distribute it evenly across all rooms, and potentially replace gas heating.
If your goal is to heat multiple rooms and you are renovating or building a new home, it is recommended to go for a ducted stove. Ducting requires masonry work for the air ducts.
Do I need to heat just the air or also water?
A pellet stove can also be used to produce hot water for domestic use. In this case, it is called a hydro stove or thermal stove.
To do this, it is advisable to combine the hydro stove with a buffer tank, which ensures you always have hot water even when the stove is off. Depending on the stove’s power and the size of the buffer, you can also heat the water needed for showers. Want to get an idea of the characteristics and prices of hydro stoves? Discover them here.
Can I connect the stove to the radiators?
If your intention is to heat the water that circulates through radiators (or in a floor heating system), a hydro stove is the right solution.
A pellet hydro stove is a heat generator, powered by pellets, designed specifically to be connected to the plumbing system, integrating perfectly with the existing heating system: radiators or underfloor heating.
Once you have an idea of the type of pellet stove you need, it’s time to focus on the specific model and planning details, a phase where it’s always a good idea to work with a professional.
Professional Consultation
Assessing the type, power, and location of the stove is crucial in choosing the right stove for your home.
When it comes to power, the factors that influence your choice are the volume of the space to be heated, the thermal insulation of the house, and calculations that can be quite complex.
At this stage, it’s important to also consider your home’s insulation, which allows you to balance potential heat loss with a suitably powerful stove, or, if the house is well insulated, a lower-power stove may be sufficient.
Augmented Reality and Technical Survey
If you're interested in installing a stove but have doubts about how it might fit with your home’s design, we can give you a ‘virtual’ idea!
Through augmented reality, you can choose the stove model that best suits you and your style, check the dimensions and colors, and view all details from the comfort of your home.
Once the stove’s needs and power are determined, it's time to consult with a technician about installation, the flue pipe, proximity to an electrical outlet, and the correct measurements.
