6 KW PELLET STOVE: MODELS AND PRICES
THE IDEAL SOLUTION FOR WELL INSULATED HOUSES OR SMALL SPACES
Have you recently improved the energy efficiency of your home by replacing the fixtures? Have you purchased a newly designed low-consumption house? Or perhaps you just want to heat a single room, such as an attic or basement? The solution for you might be a pellet stove that operates at very low power levels, from 6 kW downwards, perfectly adequate to ensure the right comfort level. In this article, we propose some of the best 6 kW pellet stove models along with their prices.
Heating is one of the main energy expenses in a home. That's why one of the first recommended steps to reduce costs is to improve the overall insulation of the building. In newly constructed homes, optimal insulation is typically included by default.
This is why homes with low heating needs, or even passive houses, are becoming increasingly common in Europe. In such homes, the heat demand is very low, and generators with only a few kW are sufficient to provide the right comfort throughout the day, even on the coldest days.
A 6 kW stove, or even less, is an excellent solution for these needs. There are models available with both wood and pellet combustion. In the latter case, you have the advantage of being able to schedule ignition and shutdown according to your schedule, even from your smartphone, and to have a powerful fan that distributes heat effectively and quickly.
6 KW PELLET STOVE: HOW HOT DOES IT GET?
Let's debunk a myth. It's not true that a low-power stove heats less. It all depends on the degree of insulation of the house. If the house is well insulated, a 6 kW pellet stove can easily heat a volume of 180 cubic meters, which corresponds to an area of 70–80 square meters. Generally, if the rooms are laid out without any particular obstacles, a 6 kW stove is therefore sufficient for an entire low-consumption apartment.
6 kW models are typically natural convection stoves in the case of wood and air ventilated stoves in the case of pellets, while for a ducted stove, it is necessary to choose a higher power. Indeed, 6 kW is not sufficient to heat both the room where the stove is installed and the other rooms where the air is transported. In this case, you need to opt for a ducted stove, which has at least 8 kW of power (to learn more about ducted stoves, read here).
The 6 kW stove is also ideal for heating a small space, such as an attic or a basement. The pellet variant in this case is perfect because the internal fan allows for the rapid distribution of warm air and achieving the right comfort in just a few minutes, even if the room has been cold for a long time.
If you're unsure whether 6 kW is sufficient for your needs, you can find a quick calculation to determine the power you need in this article.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT MODEL OF 6 KW STOVE?
If you are considering purchasing a low-power stove, remember the basic quality criteria for a product that will keep you warm for a long time and without problems:
- Environmental quality class of at least 4 stars, to ensure low emissions and high efficiency;
- Energy efficiency class A+, to ensure low consumption and savings;
- Silent fan, preferably removable altogether, to heat with the right acoustic comfort;
- Sealed structure, to reduce consumption and improve heating efficiency.
The models we have selected below all offer these basic features.
